Crofting life is important to the communities in Scotland and it's an integral part of Wester Ross life.
The croft in front of Sand Ross being mowed ready for the sheep.
Sand Ross is surrounded by croft land and there's plenty of old croft houses and steadings too. The photos below are at the side of the garden leading up the glen to the mountains beyond.

The weather can be amazing in the Highlands of Scotland, very rare to get two days the same. We get fabulous rainbows, sunsets and sun rises.
The top left photo is of a sunrise over the mountains.
Top right photo is a double rainbow over the old croft house next door.
Bottom left is a moody sunset towering over the old croft house.
Bottom right is there a pot of gold at the end of that rainbow?
Crofting is unique to Scotland, and sizes of crofts vary but tend to be small parcels of land for small scale farming. The history of crofting is one worth getting to know and there's lots of resources and books available on the subject.
